Pain of Remembering

As I have sat her so often
Remembering my past
It amazes me how much
I tend to look back

Year after year
This is where i sit
Always remembering
Wanting to reminisce

So many memories
To many of them bad
So very few are good
And to many are sad

Often times i thought
Why do i continue remembering
And always the same answer
Comes back echoing

It is the longing
For what i could not have
And it is the longing
For what i once had

Even sitting here now
I think of what i\'ve lost
It\'s a very harsh reality
With a very painful cost

Knowing so much that
Is left far behind
Makes me remember
How i was so stupid and blind.
